julay.world/liberty was the biggest but they had a big purge

That board was migrated to hoppe.sama but they had technical problems

The same board migrated to 8chan.moe/liberty

For whatever reason that group does not like 8kun. There's also decidedly more anime and larp posting.

There's also 9chan.tw/libertarian

Don't firms and individuals in a capitalist society have large incentives to rent-seek, in other words, isn't it the case that cronyism an endemic feature of capitalism?

If individuals with enough money can and have an incentive to use rent-seeking to get political favors, is that the real argument behind trying to force income equality? In other words, are proposals for income equality because of a more positive institutional arrangement than a direct moral argument?

>Don't firms and individuals in a capitalist society have large incentives to rent-seek, in other words, isn't it the case that cronyism an endemic feature of capitalism?

In fact, no. It's not firms per se that rent-seek, it's interest groups. These groups will exist even in a perfectly socialistic system.

Some of the worst examples of rent-seeking you can find in Nazi Germany. I recommend The Vampire Economy if you want to learn about this in depth, or at least a few chapters from it, as the book is quite boring. Corporations were very heavily regulated, they could not import or export without permission, they had to fulfill quotas, managers and entrepreneurs lived in constant fear of being persecuted for accidentally breaking some law, they had members of staff whose sole purpose was to have cocktail parties with bureaucrats… interestingly, no capitalist really liked this state of affairs. Many wanted it at first, especially the banks, but they deeply regretted it a few years later.

For the love of God, just learn this already.

The reason we mock communists who say "not real communism" is because they a) have no standards for determining whether some state is communist or not, as aa) their standards, like "worker's ownership of the means of production" are nearly inoperable, and bb) they cannot even find any consensus on which standard they should adopt, and b) they regularly change their minds on which governments are and aren't socialistic. My favorite example is Venezuela. You had leftists praise this country for its policies, but they made a 180° turn once the first reports came of starving Venezuelans eating flamingoes, and then they pretended that this turn never happened once Venezuela reached a state of civil war. We were always at war with Eurasia, you know? Also, c) communist don't like to think of a spectrum running from capitalism to communism, a system is either communistic or it's capitalistic.

Meanwhile:

a) Every capitalist will agree that the more unregulated voluntary transactions and property dispositions are, the more capitalist a country is,

b) there is broad agreement over which countries are capitalistic and which aren't, with some disagreements on facts, but you at least don't have thirty sects of capitalists who disagree with each other and don't even acknowledge their differences,

c) we think of economic freedom as running on a spectrum, with the USSR on one end and Ancapistan on the other so that when we say "Chile wasn't REAL capitalism", we mean to say it wasn't the ideal type of a capitalist economy. We then usually go on to mention the features which weren't capitalistic and tell you why the economic calamities in question are the fault of the interventionist or socialist elements of the economy, not of the capitalist ones.

Most libertarians and minarchists refuse to acknowledge healthcare as a service that should be provided by the goverment (nothing wrong with that), while, simultaneously use a wishy washy logic to, through massive amounts of cognitive disonance, say that the local goverment should provide a firefighter service funded by everyone.

Don't get me wrong, it makes sense that minarchists defend a vigilante government that provides police, free courthouses and a small body of soldiers to defend and ONLY defend the country (no foreign intervention allowed) as law, order and stability are public goods, however, I don't see how firefighters are one.

>fire spreads

So do germs and disease, that does not mean that healthcare is a right and that I should fund firefighters to protect you, your property and your business.

>firefighters allow me to defend my property, my bodily autonomy and mantain it at its fullest

So do most welfare programs, but you are a libertarian, not a social democrat, be coherent.

>firefighters are more efficient when they a provided by the government

We are talking about liberty and freedom, not efficiency, that's not libertarianism, that's utilitarianism.

Charity, Pharma research, banking, academia funding and healthcare are also more efficiently provided by the government (or that's what utilitarians say), but that's not an argument against freedom.

Utilitarianism is fucking intellectual cancer.

If you unironically think that efficiency justifies it you are a social democrat that believes in trickle-down economics, not a libertarian

Read Ayn Rand "the Virtue of Egoism": Libertarian ethics are based upon ethical egoism, rationalism and hedonism instead of upon utilitarianism or empirism, other people's happiness are nothing of your concern, and according to our concept of Free Will and human rationality, it is better for them to be like so.

Sometimes I wonder whether it would be a good idea to go onto commie forums, pretend I was communist, but then troll them by attacking the in-group by saying that they are not communist enough. Just try to get ideological opponents to falter by making them accelerate to the most extreme possible opinions possible. Just destroy any modicum of moderate political opinions that the left have.

I kind of feel like this has already been going on without my doing anything anyways.

One of the reasons the US is collapsing now is that Americans think that decay will be stopped by becoming Fascists and Communists.

Americans think the US will be improved by expanding wars, increasing the debt, and adding more tyranny when the reason the USA is crashing is because the US has wars, is in debt, and has a police state.

Americans say that they love freedom, but then they turn around and say they need the government to give them free Obamacare, build a wall, protect the US from Yemen, wiretap their phones, arrest people for feeding the homeless, stop farmers from plowing fields, force people to get rid of dogs, ban vaping, and torture suspects.

Every country has the government it deserves.

The Great American Experiment is a fascinating thing to read about in history. The more you read about the founding and early history of America the more it makes sense. In particular the rest of the world see's America as having a truly alien, fetishistic view of firearms. To the rest of the world they are tools or an abhorrent genie let out the bottle it can never be put back in while the view seems to be that Americans view guns in the same way other cultures view religious iconography. But the big deal seems to be a lack of understanding the 'why' of that.

Reading books like 'The Indifferent Stars Above' or Historians talking on the subject really impresses the horrible reality of the colonial times that i don't think the rest of the world understand. Take England for example. It has been inhabited since before the Ice Age. Castles and rudimentary civil engineering has criss crossed the land for over a thousand years. There were bandits and thieves but the land was small and developed to the point that there were sheriffs, town guards, lords and kings and so on for a long long time with things like the Roman invasion and the clans before that. The concept of the vast untamed endless forests of the land are such an ancient memory that England and France were still a joined landmass at that point.

Compare to America 300-400 years ago tops. A mind blowing, endless new frontier. Predators and sicknesses that you have no name for and behind it all? no police. no guards. Especially for the westward expansion settlers. It was an alien continent and the only safety between a man and his family was what else but his Gun. How many families during this period were saved because the family rifle or revolver got them through some form of attack? families that lived through that time, had descendants to pass on their trials and all recent enough for it to still have a special meaning. What was there for them when Natives circled the wagons? The law? no. The bible? no. It was the Gun. The Gun made America and was ingrained as the saviour of it since its comparatively recent inception as a nation.

Now you see the NRA on tv nowadays and they are visibly comparable to preachers, zealous congregations and just as militant and insular. The only major difference betwePost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Most assault weapon bans define "assault weapon" as this:

A semi-automatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following characteristics:

(i) a folding or telescoping stock;

(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of

the weapon;

(iii) a thumbhole stock;

(iv) a second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand;

(v) a bayonet mount;

(vi) a flash suppressor, muzzle break, muzzle compensator, or threaded

barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor, muzzle break, or

muzzle compensator;

(vii) a grenade launcher

"Assault weapons" are not assault rifles.

Assault rifles are automatic and require a license to own.

Libertarians think that they should give up defending freedom because Americans hate liberty, but Libertarians should keep resisting tyranny for selfish reasons.

While the elites control the money, government, and media, the 99% have the numbers.

One Libertarian may not be able to resist being sent to the concentration camps, but one million people might.

You know the US is doomed when Americans would rather attack those who defend freedom instead of criticizing the government that is enslaving them.

Oh, and concerning education, communist countries tend to have notoriously high literacy rates and education levels, which is simply because they shove everyone into mandatory schooling.

>But if everyone was in a Gulag, how could everyone get schooled? Checkmate, my aynclap friend!

Everyone was schooled even in Gulags. Every single source about communist countries that I ever consulted talked about the indoctrination and reeducation rampant in these countries, especially in prison. So, is it any wonder literacy rates went sky high? More importantly, is that in any way reflective of an increased standard of living, or should we maybe discard literacy rate as an a-grade indicator of living standards if they can be increased by building schools in Kolyma and then deporting everyone and his mom to Kolyma?

Americans think living in a socialist police state is normal, but freedom is not some textbook theory.

There are still some Americans alive today who will tell you that freedom is better.

society pushed into your mind suicide is bad, but it isn't. the only reason suicide is actively fought against is because when someone kills himself, system doesn't have control over him anymore

also as stated, laws preventing suicide could be always twisted and abused because you cannot define exact state when person is doing harmful action to kill themselves and when not. smoking could be banned, because you're trying to kill yourself, same goes with unhealthy food, sports etc.

I would not violate their right of self-ownership to stop them.

>you think children "who could be described as individuals" don't have to listen to their parents

That is not what I said. Saying that one possesses their own body does not mean that they don't "have to" listen to anybody. Though I don't know what you mean by "have to".

>Cuban migration to the US has pretty much stopped since Cuba's standard of living met a parity with the US some years ago

Things that never happened for 500$ Alex! Seriously, what fucking fantasy are you living in, you delusional retard? There's nothing that supports that notion, nothing even close. And even where they supposedly do have something comparable (ie: it was a meme for a while that they had really good healthcare) one look under the hood proves otherwise.

>And yes obviously because of Venezuelas issues people will migrate abroad but this is not different then any other third world state

Amazing! It's almost like Socialism and government interference turned one of the richest Latin American countries into one of the poorest in the fucking world! I wonder if it's the same with most of these third world countries… What do you know! it is.

> High taxes aren't capitalist

They're not, you fucking idiot. High taxes (let alone any taxes at all) are an interference with the market and guess what that means? It's a problem of interference with capitalism by the state, not a problem OF capitalism. Wow! it's almost like (as per everything else you say) you don't actually have a fucking clue about what you're talking about! Gee golly whiz! Kill yourself. Better yet, go ahead and tell me next about how expropriation is also a problem of capitalism. Dumb fuck.

>Hyper-inflation can't occur under capitalistm

Gee, if there was a market for money, it's almost like people could opt to choose another currency, oh wait there isn't one in Guatemala. Damn, t's almost like they have a central bank… What a shame.

Patriots must be obsessive about trying to save liberty now.

Brainstorm.

The hour is late.

Do you know anyone who works for the government who can be convinced to quit?

Do you know any reporters who would write stories about freedom?

Can you sponsor billboards or pass out flyers promoting freedom?

Can you make a freedom website?

Could you make songs, movies, or art about liberty?
